My Latest Art Project Done!

Image
I n my previous post I mentioned an art project I was working on. Well, today I finally finished it. Woo hoo! I was getting antsy to have it done and over with by the time I got about 3/4 of the way through, which isn't anything out of the ordinary for me. Behold, my latest graphite drawing entitled: All That Remains -- Ruined church of Zelemér, Hungary Click for larger view. The photo reference came from a search on Google Earth, which you can see here . From what I've read, the ruins of this church are the last remains of a medieval town that had once existed around it. I did take liberty in changing a few things from the original photo, like the removal of the footprints in the snow and the poles for the power lines in the background. The original drawing has far more finer details than what the photo shows and isn't grey. I did draw it on white paper. I need to invest in a light box (or have the boyfriend build me one) so I can take better photos of my drawing

The War Of The Muses

D raw draw draw! No! Write write write! Draw! Write! It's a rather nice predicament to have, since so rarely do either of the muses come around at the same time. In my teen years the writing and drawing muses were close pals of mine. Nowadays, not so much. And I miss that. The writing muse has been coming around a lot the last few years, which is really nice. The art muse is like that friend who lives far away that you rarely get to see, and when she does stop by, you make the most of it while she's there, because she ain't a stayin' for long. Right now the two muses are vying for my attention, and it's great, especially since I'm not working I have the time to share part of the day with both. Currently I'm working on a graphite drawing of a ruined medieval Hungarian church, it's remains the only thing left of a village that had once surrounded it. After that I really want to start on a portrait of Oscar Wilde  because I think he is just

Blue October -- 18th Floor Balcony Album -- Foiled (2006) I close my eyes and I smile  Knowing that everything is alright  To the core  So close that door  Is this happening?  My breath is on your hair  I'm unaware  That you opened the blinds and let the city in  God, you held my hand  And we stand  Just taking in everything. And I knew it from the start  So my arms are open wide  Your head is on my stomach  And we're, we're trying so hard not to fall asleep  But Here we are  On this 18th floor balcony...  We're both flying away.  So we talked about mom's and dad's  About family pasts  Just getting to know where we came from  Our hearts were on display  For all to see  I can't believe this is happening to me and,  I raised my hands as if to show you that I was yours  That I was so yours for the taking  I'm so yours for the taking and That's when I felt the wind pick up  I grabbed the rail while choking up  These words to say and then you kisse

Another Chapter Closer

I 'm pretty proud of myself tonight. I finished a chapter within two days, about 4300 words total. That's fantastic for me, since it usually takes me a week to squeeze out a chapter or two. I got two chapters done in less that a week, 8,900 words in all. I'm getting closer and closer to the end of this first book in my series. If I can keep this momentum up, barring nothing coming along and ruining my mojo like usual, I should have the first draft finally,  FINALLY , done by the end of the month. The next chapter I'll be starting had pretty much been pre-written a year ago when the idea for it came to me and I wrote it out so I wouldn't forget it. Most of it will remain much the same as I had originally written it without a whole lot of major tweaking, so assuming I am left alone to work on it tomorrow (the boyfriend will be home from work, need I say more) I should be able to finish it and begin the following chapter (eh, he'll be out in the garage all day, I

The Next Big Thing Blog Hop

So, I got tagged for this about a month ago by writer  Katie S. Pendergrass   but I had been too lazy to participate. Shame on me! But now I will finally participate.  What is your working title of your book? Draculești has been the working title for many a moon, but since my story is going to be a series, I thought it might be better suited as the over-arching title for the series, and have individual titles for each book. For the first one which I'm still working on, the idea for the title just came to me the other night: Draculești - Blood of the Dragon, Tooth of the Wolf . Where did the idea come from for the book? Way back in the day when I was a young lass (19), I had an idea to write a book on how the son of the Impaler came to be a vampire and his vampire exploits after his "turn". It was only meant to be about a hundred page story, instead it grew into a crappily written 190,000 word novel. At the time I thought it was some pretty go

Alicia Keys -- If I Ain't Got You Album -- The Diary Of Alicia Keys (2003) Some people live for the fortune  Some people live just for the fame  Some people live for the power yeah  Some people live just to play the game  Some people think that the physical things  Define what's within  And I've been there before  But that life's a bore  So full of the superficial  Some people want it all  But I don't want nothing at all  If it ain't you baby  If I ain't got you baby  Some people want diamond rings  Some just want everything  But everything means nothing  If I ain't got you  Some people search for a fountain  That promises forever young  Some people need three dozen roses  And that's the only way to prove you love them  Hand me the world on a silver platter  And what good would it be  With no one to share, with no one who truly cares for me  Some people want it all  But I don't want nothing at all  If it ain't you baby  If I ain't

Biggie, Seriously?

Image
I swear, my cat has some sort of mental connection to me, because every time, or nearly every damn time I open one of the documents to my novel to start working on it, Biggie has to make a pain in the ass of himself. As of typing this, he is sitting on my lap content, but usually he can't just sit on my lap like a good kitty, he has to pull on the zippers of my jacket, he has to get up and stand in-between me and the computer, making sure his fluff tail is in my face, rub his face on the corner of my desk and give it a bite for good measure. If I don't allow him on my lap, he tries to get on my desk where he and the other cats aren't allowed, or bite my foot or chew on my peace lily or do something else naughty just for the attention. It isn't that the cat never gets attention, he gets plenty of it. He just decides the best time to do it is when I'm trying to work, or trying to sleep. He's cute, he's fluffy, and he has no shame exposing his fluff to th
