Yeah, I was late this week. I was having a rather bad day yesterday, so I didn't get around to posting the next RSOTW. But here it is, something that I think most of us that live anywhere where it snows can appreciate: Heywood Banks -- Wiper Blades Album -- Difernt (1999) o winters here with all the ice n snow n the surly slush upon the road the salty spray upon my window makes me wish that i'd replaced my wiper blades my wiper wiper wiper blades my wiper wiper wiper blades my wiper wiper wiper blades i wish that i'd replaced my wiper blades salty spray from semis that do pass they turn my windshield into bathroom glass i turn the knob but i come to the conclusion that i did not fill up my washer solution my wiper wiper wiper fluid my wiper wiper wiper fluid my wiper wiper wiper fluid i wish that id replaced my wiper fluid my wiper wiper wiper blades my wiper wiper wiper blades my wiper wiper wiper blades i wish that i'd replaced my wiper blades down the

Spammers, You Are The Bile Of The Interwebz!

S eriously! Because I'm getting tired of being bombarded with spam messages (most of them from my The Next Big Thing post), and since no one ever writes me an actual comment anonymously, and I'm tired of seeing new comments pop up in my email only to be spam, I'm disabling the ability to comment anonymously. Sorry if it's any inconvenience to the real people out there and are not spam bots, but like I said, no one comments anonymously, and I'm tired of dealing with it. I hope it at least takes care of some of the spam. Have a good one!

Character Sketch—Izsák

Image
S o I took a break from writing yesterday because I had the itch to draw something, but when I got pencil in hand and paper on desk, I couldn't get my hand to draw what my mind was seeing. Hate that! I wanted to draw this image of my character Izsák, servant boy to my main character Vlad, sitting in a window seat gazing through the window with a leg bent upon the seat of the bench and his foot tucked beneath his other leg, holding onto a pillow. I can still see it in my mind, but I'm so out of practice with drawing the human form, which used to come so easily, that I couldn't get the position right. I drew comic book characters back in the day, all the time, and that was how I got used to drawing the human form in many positions. Nope, couldn't do it today. I made several sketches trying to get it right but I gave up and went to trying to draw his face. Key word, trying . Eventually, though, I hit the jackpot, sort of, and came up with this profile sketch: Izsák,

It's Doomsday!

So, it's 12-21-12, and I feel fine! Jill Tracy - Doomsday Serenade Album - Diabolical Streak (1999) We'll meet again, my dear, on Doomsday Pigs will be flying through the sky Upon the 12th of Never Half a quarter past forever Stricken with the Rapture We will watch the world's demise   We'll meet again, my dear, on Doomsday A hint of Armageddon fills the air Now that Hell has frozen over And the sun is growing colder We'll be drawing closer Because there's no more time to spare   We'll meet again, my dear, on Doomsday A shower full of frogs and toads But as bleak as it may be Apocalyptic reverie Hand in hand we'll tiptoe Through the carcasses and bones   The air is too thin to breath on Doomsday At last we face the reckoning And blood will fill the sea Cobwebs will cover you and me As flames engulf the remnants Of this grand catastrophe   It's Doomsday It's Doomsday ___________________________________________

New Look To The Blog.

I got bored of the autumn trees look, so I decided to go with this winter-themed look, at least until the end of winter (though winter has yet to show around these parts.). What do you think? Also, I wrote another 2400 words the other day. My writing just comes in spurts, I suppose. Getting that much closer to the end, thank goodness. I'm already over 170,000 words into this novel, almost where I was when I wrote it the first time 15 years ago, and I'm only about halfway through the story of the original draft (which I have to split into two, no questions asked). The original draft is mostly irrelevant now, but some of the plot points remain. Im'ma gonna have to do some chopping I guess when editing time comes and do some real tightening of the prose, but I'll worry about that when the time comes.

Steppenwolf -- Magic Carpet Ride Album -- The Second (1968) I like to dream yes, yes, right between my sound machine On a cloud of sound I drift in the night Any place it goes is right Goes far, flies near, to the stars away from here Well, you don't know what we can find Why don't you come with me little girl On a magic carpet ride You don't know what we can see Why don't you tell your dreams to me Fantasy will set you free Close your eyes girl Look inside girl Let the sound take you away Last night I held Aladdin's lamp And so I wished that I could stay Before the thing could answer me Well, someone came and took the lamp away I looked around, a lousy candle's all I found Well, you don't know what we can find Why don't you come with me little girl On a magic carpet ride Well, you don't know what we can see Why don't you tell your dreams to me Fantasy will set you free Close your eyes girl Look inside girl Let the sound take you away You

Clannad - Caide Sin Do'n Té Sin? (What is it to anyone?) Album -- Banba (1993) Since the video has the words in it, here's the translation: I went to the fair and sold my cow For five pounds of silver and a yellow guinea of gold If I drink the silver and if I give away the gold O what is that to anyone else. If I drink the silver and if I give away the gold O what is that to anyone else. If I go to the leafy woods gathering berries or chestnuts, Plucking apples from branches or herding cows, If I stretch out for a while beneath a tree relaxing, O what is that to anyone else. If I stretch out for a while beneath a tree relaxing, O what is that to anyone else. If I go for a night-visit and for dancing and sport, To fairs and races and every gathering of that sort, If I see happy people and if I'm happy with them, O what is that to anyone else. If I see happy people and if I'm happy with them, O what is that to anyone else. People say I'm without riches no doub

Seduced By Wilde

H is portrait, that is. For the past eight days I had been working on my latest art project, a graphite portrait of Oscar Wilde. My writing was put on the back burner for the entire time I worked on this, the reason because I was just too caught up into drawing this picture, and I was anguishing over the current scene. Nothing was coming out like I wanted, so a little time away was in order, and what better way to take a break from writing than to draw something, especially if that something is Wilde. So, without further ado, I will take you on a photo by photo progression of my work. Also, the photo quality is pretty crappy, not professional in any way, just so you know. Days 1-2: Outline of Oscar complete. I started the outline by doing some minor tracing (yeah, I cheated a little) with my light box just to get the major lines down, then I drew in the finer details of which even those changed as I progressed with the drawing. I started that on Dec. 1st, but couldn't fini

Adam Hurst -- The Secret Album -- The Secret (2011) Cello and piano, one of his best songs in my opinion, but much of his music is great. And he's a snappy dresser.
